CA Report: Top New Cigars (August 18th, 2025)

While I’m looking forward to cooler days and nights, I’m doing my best to enjoy the summer while I still can. Like getting a few more BBQs and fishing trips in before the end of the season. Plus, as much as I’m quick to complain about the heat, once I’m bundled in 8 layers and locked indoors all day, I’ll miss it just like I miss the cold right now.

Still, everyone’s always telling you to live in the moment, right? Hopefully, you can find a good smoke that’ll help you do that. Mute your phone, close out of your work email, and grab a seat on your back porch. These fresh releases will be the perfect accompaniment to some deserved “me” time.

My Father Blue

Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf
Binder: Honduran
Filler: Honduran

My Father Blue is the first cigar from the Garcia family’s new factory in Honduras. Now, My Father is known for pumping out some Cigar of the Year candidates. Legit cigar enthusiasts have likely ordered their box ahead of me already. “Blue” pays homage to the colors of the Honduran flag. This is the same quality you’ve come to expect out of My Father. It has some delicious flavors and decent strength, but nothing that’ll make you dizzy. You’ll enjoy some rich cocoa, oak, and leather to it. This isn’t a cigar you’ll want to miss. Check it out today!

Top New Cigars Spotlight Video Series: My Father Blue, AJ Fernandez New World Decenio, and La Aurora Family Creed Fuerte Sol

AJ Fernandez New World Decenio

Wrapper: Mexican San Andres
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Honduran, Nicaraguan

Ten years of the New World brand. Now, if that makes you feel old, don’t worry, all things get better with age. A decade after AJ’s first collaboration with his father, we arrived at the Decenio. This is a hotly anticipated stick and a must-smoke for 2025. A tribute to the legacy and tradition of not only the New World line but AJ Fernandez himself. Now that’s a lot to live up to, and I’m always quick to play skeptic and wonder if it’ll live up to the hype it’s built for itself.

Maybe this is a sign to not always be so skeptical because this exceeded expectations—rich flavors of dark cocoa, cedar, and coffee with this tangy mesquite flavor. It’s got this rich, chewy smoke that I love. Excellent quality, excellent flavor. Don’t hesitate – get it now.

La Aurora Family Creed Fuerte Sol

Wrapper: Mexican San Andres
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Dominican, Nicaraguan, USA

If, for whatever reason, you’d previously written off La Aurora, this is the one to change your mind. If you’re wondering why, one big reason is that this is blended by the minds over at La Aurora’s USA team, rather than their usual group in the DR. And I know that, at least personally, I hope they rely more on the team here in the States for their upcoming releases. I’ve had a handful of La Auroras, and I’m still smoking my way through their classics, but this is easily my favorite out of everything I’ve had. Some great flavors here that’ll hold your attention; it’s a blend that eggs you on and keeps you smacking your lips, tasting every flavor.

I’d say this cigar has excited me the most this year. I was impressed by what La Aurora’s US team came up with. And I’ll be looking out for La Aurora releases to see if they came from the US team in the future. Really great stuff that I no doubt will pick up more of the first chance I get. These are must-haves.
